Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you'd ask
before you book.

40 years of installs means we've heard every question twice. Straight answers on pricing, timing, warranties, California tint law, and what actually separates a premium install from a bargain one.

01 · Pricing & Quotes

Pricing.

Full-vehicle automotive tint at Tint Crew ranges from $250 for small cars on Monocarbon film up to $950+ for large SUVs on Llumar IRX nano-ceramic with windshield and front-door upgrades. Most mid-size sedans land between $275–$425. You can get an exact quote with our year/make/model live estimator — no email required.

Paint protection film starts around $1,200 for a Partial Front package on compact cars and ranges up to $8,000+ for Full-Vehicle on luxury SUVs. Our most popular package — Full Front — typically falls between $2,200 and $3,600 depending on vehicle size. Every quote includes Llumar Valor film and a 12-year manufacturer warranty.

Yes. All quotes are free, whether you request online, over the phone, or in person. We'll give you an exact line-item price — no bait-and-switch, no hidden fees.

We rarely need to. If you've received a lower written quote on comparable film (same brand, same coverage, same warranty), bring it in — we'll review it honestly. We compete on craft and warranty, not bottom-dollar pricing.

02 · Timing & Scheduling

Timing.

A full sedan takes 2–3 hours. SUVs and larger vehicles run 3–4 hours. Windshield and 2-front upgrade each add 30–45 minutes. We book by appointment — no loitering, no all-day drop-offs.

Partial Front: half a day. Full Front (most popular): 1–2 days. Full-Vehicle wraps: 4–6 days depending on panel count. PPF cures around the edges for 48 hours after install — we don't rush any stage.

Tint: usually 2–5 business days out. PPF: 1–3 weeks, longer for Full-Vehicle or color-change. We hold spots with a small deposit and you'll get a reminder the day before.

Yes for tint and dashcam installs — we have a small waiting area with Wi-Fi. PPF takes longer than most people want to wait; we usually recommend dropping off and picking up the next day.

03 · Warranty

Warranty.

Llumar window film: lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, and color shift. Llumar Valor PPF: 12-year manufacturer warranty covering yellowing, delamination, and staining. All warranties are backed by Tint Crew's 40-year operating history — we'll be here to honor them.

No. Both Llumar window film and Valor PPF manufacturer warranties stay with the original purchaser and don’t automatically transfer when the vehicle is sold. The film itself remains on the car and still looks factory, so it’s a resale-value enhancement — but manufacturer claims are honored only for the original owner.

Bring it back — we'll fix it at no charge under warranty. Most edge-lift issues occur in the first 30 days (usually from premature window rolling) and are resolved in under an hour.

04 · California Tint Law

Legal Limits.

California Vehicle Code §26708 allows: front side windows at 70% VLT or higher (very light), rear side and rear windshields any darkness, and windshield tint only above the AS-1 line (roughly the top 4–5 inches). We'll advise you on what's compliant for your vehicle before cutting.

If tint is below 70% VLT on front side windows, yes — a fix-it ticket is possible. We offer compliant ceramic tint (70%+ VLT) that still rejects 90%+ of heat and UV. Best of both worlds: legal and effective.

Under California law, only the top strip above the AS-1 line (about 4–5 inches down from the top) is legal. Full-windshield film — even near-clear options like AIR 80 (77% VLT) — is not CA-compliant. We install full-windshield AIR 80 or IRX 50 only at the driver's informed request.

05 · Services

Service Differences.

Dyed or carbon tint blocks light but lets heat through. Ceramic tint (Phantom S5, CTX, IRX) uses nano-ceramic particles that reject 70–96% of infrared heat while staying color-stable. Ceramic costs more but pays off in comfort, fuel economy (less A/C load), and longevity — no fading or purpling.

Yes — Tesla is roughly 40% of our work. We've mapped tint percentages per model (Model 3, Y, S, X, Cybertruck) and offer Tesla-specific PPF patterns for the bumpers, hood, and charge port area. EV-specific windshield films cut thermal load on the battery pack.

06 · Aftercare

Aftercare.

Wait 48–72 hours. The adhesive needs time to bond and excess moisture to evaporate. Rolling down too early is the #1 cause of edge-lift. In hot/dry weather 48 hours is enough; in cool/humid weather we recommend 72.

Hand-wash with pH-neutral soap. Avoid high-pressure nozzles within 2 inches of film edges. No wax or polish containing petroleum distillates. Standard touchless car washes are fine after the first 48 hours. Detailed care sheet included with every PPF job.

Tiny water bubbles are normal for the first 1–3 weeks while the film fully cures. They disappear on their own. If any bubbles remain after 30 days, bring it in — we'll review under warranty.

07 · Architectural

Architectural Film.

Yes — typically 15–30% in Southern California depending on sun exposure. Rooms with west-facing windows see the biggest savings. We can model exact energy payback for your space during consultation.

Not necessarily. Spectrally-selective films reject 80%+ of heat while letting 70%+ of visible light through. You get cooler rooms without the cave effect. Tinted or privacy variants are available if you prefer the darker look.

Security film doesn't make glass unbreakable, but it delays entry by 30–90 seconds and holds shattered glass in the frame. That delay is enough to trigger alarms and deter most smash-and-grab attempts on storefronts, ATMs, and ground-floor homes.
